Professional Tree Pruning

What We Do

Proper Tree Pruning

Proper tree pruning is about much more than appearance. It requires experience, precision, and a clear understanding of how trees grow and respond to each cut. As a certified arborist with over 17 years of hands-on experience, I provide professional tree pruning focused on long-term tree health, safety, and preserving the natural structure of your trees.

Every tree is assessed individually. Every cut is made intentionally. The goal is always the same: healthier trees, reduced risk, and work done the right way — without shortcuts.

I proudly provide professional tree pruning services throughout Lethbridge, Coaldale, Raymond, Taber, Magrath, and Cardston, serving homeowners who value quality and expert care.

Professional Tree Pruning by a Certified Arborist

Full Prune

This covers everything. Deadwood removal, crossing and rubbing branches, disease and low vigor branches, clearances, and addressing any defects we may find in your tree.

Apple Trees and Fruit Trees

Pruning techniques can vary with Fruit trees. Some people just enjoy the flowers in the spring and want a nice ornamental tree while others are focused on the best fruit possible. With a short consult we developed a pruning plan for your trees.

With fruit trees disease is always a concern. I clean and sterilize our tools regularly to keep the spread of infection down.

Birch Trees

These trees need special care in southern Alberta. We have a nasty bug called the Bronze Birch Borer. This bug starts at the tips and kills the tree off from the top down. When caught in time it can be treated and the tree can be saved. It is important to take extra care when pruning Birch trees.

Crown Reduction

Sometimes a tree can get to big for the location it’s planted in. In that case we can reduce the overall size of the tree with reduction cuts. In this case it’s best to have an assessment of the tree to see how much can be removed.

Deadwood Removal

This is exactly what it sounds like. Not every tree needs a full prune and we only want to do what is needed. Often times you only need the deadwood pruned out. By doing so this will save you money and will be less stressful on your trees.

Elm Trees

Elm trees have to be some of my favorite trees to prune! We have some amazing Elm trees in Lethbridge. Alberta has a great stand of Elm trees That I love. Elm trees can only be pruned between October 1st and March 31st. There is a ban on pruning between April 1st and September 30th. This is to help prevent the spread of Dutch Elm Disease.

Why Tree Pruning Is Essential for Healthy, Safe, and Beautiful Trees

Tree pruning is one of the most important services you can invest in to protect your property and maintain healthy trees. Regular tree pruning not only improves the appearance of your landscape but also strengthens tree structure, prevents disease, and reduces safety risks. When done properly, professional tree pruning helps extend the life of your trees while protecting your home and surrounding areas.

One of the biggest benefits of tree pruning is improved tree health. Removing dead, diseased, or damaged branches prevents decay and harmful pathogens from spreading to healthy parts of the tree. This process allows trees to focus their energy on strong, vibrant growth. Tree trimming also increases airflow and sunlight penetration through the canopy, reducing moisture buildup that can lead to fungal infections and pest infestations. Healthier trees are more resilient during storms and extreme weather conditions.

Safety is another major reason homeowners and property managers schedule routine tree pruning services. Weak, hanging, or dead branches can fall unexpectedly, especially during high winds or heavy rain. These hazardous limbs can cause serious damage to roofs, vehicles, fences, and power lines. In some cases, they can even pose a risk to people walking below. Regular tree trimming reduces these dangers and helps prevent costly property damage.

Tree pruning also supports long-term structural strength. By removing overcrowded or crossing branches, trees develop stronger growth patterns and are less likely to suffer from breakage. Preventative maintenance through seasonal tree pruning can significantly reduce the need for emergency tree removal in the future.

In addition to health and safety benefits, professional tree pruning improves overall property value. Well-maintained trees enhance curb appeal and demonstrate responsible property care. Healthy, thriving trees make outdoor spaces more attractive and inviting.

For the best results, tree pruning should be performed at the proper time of year and by trained professionals who understand different tree species and growth cycles. Investing in regular tree pruning services is a proactive step that protects your landscape, improves safety, and ensures your trees remain a valuable asset for years to come.
